Security Tight as CS Murkomen Inspects Guard of Honour Mins Before Key Launch & Address at DCI HDQs

July 22, 2026
Security has been heightened at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters at Mazingira Complex as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen arrives to inspect a guard of honour ahead of a major official event.

The CS has been received by top police leadership, including the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja, alongside the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin.

Also in attendance are Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, Secretary Administration Ms. Bernice Lemedeket and several other senior officers from the service.

The high-level gathering marks two critical milestones for Kenya’s law enforcement: the official go-live of the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS) and the handover ceremony of the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) certificate to the Forensic Evidence Management Unit (FEMU).

The rollout of the MBIS represents a significant technological shift for criminal investigations in the country, upgrading forensic capability to process, match, and analyze biometric data with higher precision and speed.

Paired with the ANAB accreditation, the Forensic Evidence Management Unit receives international recognition for meeting rigorous global standards in forensic evidence handling and management.

Following the military-style inspection and official proceedings, CS Murkomen is scheduled to address the nation alongside key stakeholders from the security sector.

The national address is expected to highlight ongoing reforms within the police service, the modernization of forensic technologies, and broader strategies to boost public safety and crime prevention across the country.

A brief photo opportunity and a interactive press session with members of the media will conclude the event at Mazingira Complex.
