What a Kenyan Woman Found at Home After Returning from the Gulf Left Her Heartbroken
Pendo posted an emotional video on TikTok showing her first visit to her mother's grave after arriving back in Kenya. Instead of the joyful reunion she had imagined for years, she was forced to confront the painful reality that her mother was no longer alive.
In the clip, Pendo, dressed in a purple tracksuit, slowly walks toward the grave in her family's compound.
She gently touches the fresh mound before standing silently as she struggles to come to terms with her loss. Moments later, she walks around the grave and places both hands on her head, overwhelmed by grief.
The video was accompanied by the gospel song Malengo Ya Mungu by Israel Mbonyi, adding to the emotional atmosphere.
In the caption, Pendo described the pain of returning home after years of sacrifice abroad only to discover that the person she longed to see most was gone.
"Imagine the pain of spending years in the Gulf and finally coming home to find no one to welcome you, but meeting with your mum while in the grave when you left her full of life," she wrote.
The video also captured an emotional reunion with her children, whom she had left behind while working overseas. Although she was happy to embrace them again, the joy was overshadowed by the absence of her mother, who never lived to witness her daughter's return.
