Couple Driving Home Involved in an Accident, Gang Arrives the Scene Forces Wife to Sleep With Them
Detectives in Kiambu County have launched a manhunt for two suspects accused of attacking, robbing and sexually assaulting a couple following a road accident in Kikuyu Sub-County.
The incident happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday at the KARLO Forest–Renguti Junction in the Kerwa area.
Police said the couple was driving home when the driver lost control of the car, sending it off the road and into a ditch on a nearby farm.
Two unidentified men then approached the stranded couple under the guise of offering help.
Investigators say the men soon turned on the victims, pulling out knives and robbing them of their phones.
The attackers reportedly forced the couple to disclose their M-Pesa PINs before withdrawing money from their mobile accounts.
They then fled the scene, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
During the ordeal, one of the victims was gang-raped, while both sustained physical injuries.
Members of the public rescued the couple and rushed them to P.C.E.A. Kikuyu Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
A team from the Kikuyu Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office, together with the traffic department and Crime Scene Investigators from Kiambu, visited and processed the scene later on Thursday.
Detectives recovered several empty alcohol bottles from the wrecked vehicle, which have been retained as exhibits.
Police say efforts to identify, trace and apprehend the two suspects are underway. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the attack.
