The developments come as homicide detectives continue investigating the death of the 53-year-old quantity surveyor and Technical University of Kenya lecturer, whose night out in Nairobi ended in tragedy.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has confirmed the arrest of the owner of a grey Toyota Ractis believed to have been used to dump Mokua's body.
Detectives arrested the suspect in Blue Estate, Ruiru, after forensic evidence linked the vehicle to the crime.
The car was later recovered at Murera Farm in Juja and has been detained as an exhibit while the suspect remains in police custody awaiting arraignment.
Investigators believe the murder is connected to an organised drink spiking and robbery network targeting wealthy patrons in entertainment joints across Nairobi.
According to detectives, Mokua left his Lavington home on the evening of July 7 and spent time with two men and a woman at Kettle Club before the group moved to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall.
His companions later left, leaving him with the woman captured on CCTV.
Security cameras later recorded the pair leaving together at about 10 pm before another woman joined them in the parking area.
They entered a waiting vehicle, and Mokua was never seen alive again.
Police established that KSh 300,000 was transferred from Mokua's mobile phone to a woman's account that same night. His family reported him missing after he failed to return home.
The following morning, his body was found near Woodcreek Academy in Roysambu and later identified at Nairobi Funeral Home.
A postmortem did not establish the cause of death, and toxicology tests are expected to determine whether he was drugged.
The investigation gathered momentum after another businessman reported being drugged in Ruiru under similar circumstances.
CCTV footage allegedly showed the same woman with both victims.
Detectives now believe she worked with two accomplices who shared the stolen money before disappearing.
Police say the suspects are on the run as investigations continue into the criminal network that has renewed concerns over the growing threat posed by Mchele gangs in Nairobi.
