Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has criticized a section of Kenya Kwanza leaders allied to President William Ruto, accusing them of unnecessarily engaging in political battles with opposition figures instead of focusing on governance.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Odhiambo argued that it was unproductive for leaders supporting the President to constantly target former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, noting that both are not expected to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Her remarks suggested that political energy should instead be directed toward service delivery and national development rather than sustained political rivalries.
She emphasized that even if Uhuru Kenyatta and Gachagua have strong political influence, they should be treated as former leaders whose current roles do not warrant being drawn into daily political confrontation.
According to her, continued attacks on them only deepen political tension and distract from the real issues affecting Kenyans.
Odhiambo also urged unity and restraint among MPs supporting the government, saying they should back President Ruto peacefully rather than turning Parliament into a battleground for opposition politics.
Her comments come amid heightened political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, where various camps are already positioning themselves despite some key figures, including Uhuru Kenyatta, remaining largely out of active electoral competition.
