Ruto's Ally Who Is Likely to Win a Parliamentary Seat in Kalonzo's Backyard

As the next general election is fast approaching, politicians have started strengthening their support bases in readiness for the upcoming battle.

Tribal kingpins have also started identifying the leaders they want to be elected in their backyards.

For instance, President William Ruto is likely to support the leaders allied to him to be elected in his Rift Valley backyard.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will also endorse his preferred candidates for various seats in Ukambani.

However, there are some Ruto's allies in Ukambani who will definitely retain their seats. One of them is Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.

Mutuse was elected on Maendeleo Chap Chap in 2022 general election after garnering 30,844 vote. His close competitor in the race James Kimanthi who ran on UDA got 20,793 votes.

Both Maendeleo Chap Chap and UDA were affiliate parties under Ruto's led Kenya Kwanza Alliance. Wiper candidate Oscar Sila came distant fourth with only 628 votes.

This show that wiper is not strong in Kibwezi West and Kalonzo is less likely to influence who will be elected in the constituency.

As we head to the next general election, the race for Kibwezi West parliamentary seat has once again been narrowed to a two horse race between Mutuse and Kimanthi.

This time Kimanthi is vying on Wiper Patriotic Front party while Mutuse is defending his seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap.

The race is likely to be a tough one but Mutuse had proven to be hard nut to crack after his 2022 victory. He is capable of sailing through against Wiper waves that's sweeping across the lower Eastern region.
