PHOTOS: Oburu’s Team Arrives in Kisumu for Mega Rally as Thousands of Supporters Turn Out

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders converged in Kisumu on Sunday, May 31, 2026, ahead of the highly anticipated Wabiro Mega Rally, a political gathering expected to draw tens of thousands of supporters from across the region.

ODM leader Oburu Odinga arrived in Kisumu earlier in the day, where he was received by Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o at his Seme residence before proceeding to the rally venue. His arrival signaled a major show of party unity as preparations for the event intensified.

He was accompanied by senior party figures, including ODM national chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, as the party sought to reinforce cohesion and grassroots mobilisation across the region.

The rally, held in Kisumu, has been described by local leaders as a key moment for strengthening ODM structures and reaffirming support in its traditional strongholds.

According to Seme MP James Nyikal, extensive mobilisation efforts were carried out ahead of the event, including youth engagements, boda boda forums, and community meetings across sub-counties.

Organisers estimate attendance could reach up to 30,000 people, with key facilities and security arrangements already put in place.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro, who also serves on the planning committee, assured attendees that logistical and safety measures had been fully finalised.

The event comes at a time when ODM is seeking to project unity and consolidate its influence in the region amid a dynamic political landscape.

Party leaders have emphasised that the rally is not only a show of strength but also a reaffirmation of solidarity among supporters and elected officials.

As crowds continue to gather in Kisumu, the Wabiro Mega Rally is expected to be one of the largest political events in the region this year, reflecting ODM’s continued organisational strength and grassroots reach.
