"Kenya Is Ready To Deal With Ebola Outbreak" Ruto's Govt Confirms

Principal Secretary for Public Health Muthoni has assured Kenyans that the country is fully prepared to respond to any potential Ebola outbreak following the ongoing regional health concerns in parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Muthoni reiterated that although Kenya has not recorded any confirmed Ebola case, preparedness measures have been significantly strengthened to prevent any possible importation of the virus.

She noted that the government has enhanced surveillance systems across the country, particularly at border points and major entry routes, to ensure early detection of any suspected cases.

She further revealed that the national government is working closely with county governments to ensure a coordinated and rapid response framework in the event of an outbreak.

According to her, isolation and quarantine facilities have been reinforced, and dedicated laboratories have already been set up to speed up testing and confirmation of suspected infections.

Muthoni emphasized that health workers across the country have been trained on Ebola case management, infection prevention, and control measures, adding that hospitals are on high alert to handle any emergencies that may arise.

She assured Kenyans that response teams are on standby and ready to be deployed immediately if needed.

“The country is prepared. We have strengthened our systems, enhanced coordination with counties, and established laboratory capacity to ensure quick diagnosis and response,” she said.

The Principal Secretary urged members of the public to remain calm but vigilant, encouraging them to observe hygiene practices and report any suspected symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and unexplained bleeding to the nearest health facility.

She also cautioned against misinformation, saying accurate communication is critical in preventing panic as Kenya continues to monitor the situation in the region closely.
