Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced plans that could reshape the ongoing political realignments within the “Linda Mwananchi” movement, signaling a possible split from key figures including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Siaya Governor James Orengo.
Amisi says the trio, alongside other allies, have deviated from the original vision that inspired the formation of Linda Mwananchi, prompting him to consider launching a new political direction that better reflects the movement’s founding principles.
According to the MP, the current structure has shifted away from its intended focus of citizen-centered leadership and reform-oriented politics.
He argues that internal disagreements and competing interests have weakened the unity that once defined the group.
The remarks come at a time when Linda Mwananchi has been gaining attention as one of the most active political formations ahead of the 2027 elections, bringing together influential leaders from across ODM-linked circles.
The movement has previously been associated with rallies and consultations involving senior opposition figures, with Sifuna, Babu Owino, and Orengo playing visible roles in shaping its direction.
However, Amisi now suggests that the original purpose is being diluted, and that a fresh political vehicle may be necessary to restore its founding ideals.
He insists that consultations are ongoing and a formal announcement could follow once structures are finalized.
The development adds a new layer of uncertainty to opposition politics, where competing factions continue to emerge amid broader debates about leadership succession and coalition building.
A related Facebook post circulating online highlights the growing attention around Amisi’s remarks, reflecting heightened public interest in the potential fallout within the movement and its future trajectory.
As the situation develops, political observers say the move could either fragment Linda Mwananchi further or trigger a broader realignment ahead of 2027.
